I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would, and it is incredibly readable. Bruce Fogle not only has a great story to tell but he also has a certain quality as a humorous writer. It's an interesting look at how a young vet, fresh from Canada, starts his first job in Kensington, London, and finds it's more than just treating animals. With the pets come people and it's these that Fogle learns are just as important as the treatment he hands out to cats, dogs, or any animal.

Due to the location of his prestigious surgery in the heart of 'posh' London we're also introduced to more than your average pet such as the exotic inhabitants of Harrods 'zoo department', and the rich and famous such as the Duchess of Argyll.

Fogle also shows the beginnings of his development as a vet in wanting to prevent rather than just treating ailments and medical conditions. I'd love to read any follow-up he might write.
