This is a whopping great dose of nostalgia; in fact it reads almost like all those war time set movies you've watched about the Home Front. To be fair I get a large dose of "It's A Wonderful Life" feeling from it - you know it, that nostalgia for something you have never experienced but that feels like you have; maybe it's collective memory.

Whilst I have really enjoyed reading the First Impression of this book, I am a little sceptical about it. Except for a couple of examples everything has been terribly marvellous so far with everyone doing their best to enjoy the Yuletide Festivities. My head tells me that these are exceptional stories and that evacuation certainly wasn't this charmed for the majority of children or maybe time has put a rose coloured hue over it all for those who lived through it.
