Tingling to the core

In so many ways heart-warming but also heart-breaking. I found the opening chapter containing the Christmas memories of children who experienced separation and deprivation during the Second World War. There's a lovely element of nostalgia about their recollections but often this is tinged with memories of real hardship, loneliness and the uncertainty of knowing what was happening to family members elsewhere. What I've read so far has been absolutely fascinating.
