I quite enjoy spies and action-packed stories, just like this one. The protagonist -Elizabeth- quickly brought me in the narrative, and captivated me with the story. From the first paragraph, I was very interested in the story of secret agent Elizabeth de Mornay, a strong female character that should truly be an inspiration.
I liked how the author mixed adventure, friendship, adrenaline and love quite well in this book, yet it didn't really enjoy the various love interests of the protagonist: they fit in the narrative in a masterful way, but I found the marriage at the end slightly off. Regardless of this, I found the book packed with action and mystery throughout, with interesting disguises and plot twists.

Before reading this book, I read Margareth Stohl's prose novels about the Black and Red Widow, so I was quite immersed in the world of female spies. Elizabeth de Mornay fascinated me almost as much as Natasha Romanova, with a little bit of extra fascination since Elizabeth completed her mission without futuristic and/or advanced technology.

'City of Spies' was a great debut novel from Mara Timon and I would be thrilled to read her other books.
