I really don't think that there is a bad book by Elizabeth Acevado. Following our two main characters Camino and Yahira as they not only come to terms with the death of their father, but also the fact that he was leading a double life between the Dominican republic and USA.

This novel in verse was so fantastic at weaving these two complex characters, one who only saw her dad in the summer and is desperate to go to college in the states, contrasted with the other who only missed her dad during the summer and has everything the other wanted.

Based on a true story, the novel has a lot of representation including LGBTQ rep as well as being own voices POC rep. This book made me sob in points but for a book so steeped in loss and grief it also had a lot of joy (Escpecially from Yahiras girlfriend who seemed to radiate Joy with everything she did)

100% recommend this one!
