I had read Coleen's previous book "Before I go" a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it, although it was a big diversion from the crime and chick lit I normally read. Close enough to touch is the story of Jubilee Jenkins who is allergic to people. She can't be touched as cells from another person send her into anaphylactic shock. This starts with her telling the story of how the one and only time she was kissed by a boy it nearly killed her. To make matters worse he did it for a bet. This culminated in Jubilee not returning to finish school and staying home. Her Mother moved away to get married and left her in the house. At the time of the book her mother has just died and although she left her the house, her husband is no longer funding Jubilee's life and she is forced to get a job. Through a chance meeting with Madison, someone she went to school with, she meets Eric and Aja. That is the point where people's lives starting changing.
