There has been so much hype about this book, I had to buy it. From a woman in her forties myself I didn’t know what this would be - pure fiction? A journal? A self help book? In fact it was just a good fun read. Laugh out loud moments but real depth, the end of a serious relationship and failure of a business to friendships changing and living as a single woman surrounded by families.

What I love about this book is the reality - it is ok to have different emotions, feel fear, jealousy , hurt and have good days with the sunshine streaming through the windows. To see that forty something is not old compared to eighty something! The realisation that friends and family may change but they will be there.

For me four stars, at times it felt a little like good ‘chick lit’, my least favourite genre, but the writing is very good and I did very much like the main character to enjoy the book through to the last page.
