Ever since reading "War cry" also by Wilbur Smith I have been sitting on pins and needles for this book and was not disappointed.
Saffron and Gerhard are both fighting for their individual countrys but for different reasons. Gerhard has no choice but to fight for a regime he hates with a vengance and Saffron because she know that she and Gerhard can't be together unless those beasts in Europe are destroyd. She becomes a female 007, uses her wit and her beauty to enchant some "very intelligent persons" in Nazi-Europe, get them to blabber/boast so that they can impress a gorgeous woman and gets the informations back to Great Britain.
Meanwhile Gerhard narrowly escapes from Stalingrad - only to get from the frying pan into the fire. He's burned badly-not least thanks to his "dear brother" is very near death - will he and Saffron see each other again in this life?

The long wait was worthwhile it. And I don't rue the money I spend for this book. Will there be another book about this dreamteam? We will see.
