It could have been better
This is the sequel to the book Maestra which follows the life of Judith Rashleigh, formerly a glorified art house assistant, she’s frankly gone off the rails. This book is completely different to any book I have read before, Judith is the anti-hero and her fall from a ‘limited’ moral code to murder all in order to clime her way up the ranks of the art world is thrilling... in theory.
Although I loved the story line and the descriptions I wasn’t invested in Judith as a character, I felt no sympathy, no hate, no loyalty towards her or any other characters in the book. In truth I have no desire to read the third instalment despite the cliff hanger the second one finished on. The plot was hard to follow at times and occasionally predictable. I may read the final book purely in the hope that it finishes in the same way that the story began.
