At only 22 pages this felt a very short first impression, really only the one opening scene, however even this brief look has whetted my appetite for more.

It's difficult to cram so many twists and dynamics into only the opening few pages but Karin Slaughter has done just that, with a simple mother-son merging into domestic abuse merging into violence, twists, a shock reveal and bodily harm. In just 22 pages!

This gives me great hope for what the rest of the book entails, and I have so many more questions I want the answers to.

Completely hooked by the cover, looks and reads exactly like a thriller novel I could really get into if I read more of it.
