Leigh is a defence attorney who had her own practice until the pandemic hit. Now Leigh is working for BC&M. She is re-assigned a new case 8 days before the trial is due to start because the client has specifically asked for her.

When Leigh meets the alleged suspect it hits a bit too close to home. It’s someone that Leigh had forgotten about after what happened. What do they know about what Leigh and her sister Callie did? After all these years what do they want?

This was everything I hoped it would be and more. The first chapter was utterly shocking and mind blowing and set up the story perfectly. My initial thoughts when I finished reading this book was just wow. The storyline is intricate, weaving between the past and the present adding context to Leigh’s current case and what happened in the past. The plot twist was brilliant and the ending wasn’t what I was expecting. I would almost describe the ending as bittersweet.

Every character has a secret, some of which were shocking. As characters Leigh and Callie may be sisters but they are very different and after what happened it clearly affected them differently as is reflected in how their lives panned out. I could see why Leigh is conflicted and feels responsible for what happened to Callie and how her life turned out. Yet Callie does not seem to blame Leigh at all. Leigh’s fantasy apocalypse fight club scenario did make me smile. As for Leigh’s new client he definitely had a creepy unsettling vibe about him. As the story progressed all the strings to the storyline started to pull together and the storyline just made sense.

If you like criminal thrillers that will keep you guessing then you need to read this book.

A rollercoaster ride of a thriller which is a complete masterpiece from start to finish.
