Gosh darned this book took me ages to get through!
It was an ARC by an author i'd previously experienced and I've just realised it took me a while to get into her other books too. Unsure whether I'm just not connecting with her right away or I'm just not in the reading mindset.
However once I got into this book, it was mind-blowing. There aren't really any "Twists" for the plot but the character arcs are tremendously spectacular.
Callie and Leigh go through something as teenagers which shapes their futures. Leigh gets herself sorted but is still traumatised by her demons, whilst Callie turned to drug abuse to escape the real world.
They then come back into contact with someone from their past who turns their whole lives around and forces them to deal with memories they'd purposefully forgotten.
This is why I think the character arc is spectacular.
