An amazing novel. This story will hold your attention throughout. It has a thoroughly gripping start to it. It begins in Cornwall where Jenny finds herself driven to crime through unfair taxes and an unfair societal structure. It is very clear from the start that this woman is one of strength and calibre as she is sent to Australia on a convict ship for her “crimes”. The depiction of the journey(s) on the high seas are really graphic and will stay with you. Once in Australia the story takes on a different element as Jenny plots a daring plan to free her 2 children and her husband. This part of the novel will really take your breath away and you will find it hard not to be shed a tear at various parts of this heroic story. The last part of the novel keeps you guessing until the very end. Cannot recommend it highly enough and the author continues the great tradition of the Keneally family in great storytelling. Do not hesitate to get your hands on this story. Cannot wait the author’s next book. 10 out of 10!
