An epic adventure
This book is based on the true story of Mary Bryant, this put me off slightly as I find many true stories cannot be that interesting, however I was proved wrong!
The story starts with Jenny Trelawney living in poverty in Cornwall and sees her committing crimes as a highway woman which lead her to be convicted and transported to Australia.
Her journey on the sea is treacherous and so well written that I felt I was there with her sharing the horrendous months until she finally reaches her destination only to endure the unimaginable.
Jennys horror dosent end there and she plots her escape in a small boat, with her young children.
Jenny eventually ends up back where she started after a life time of hardship
This is a brilliant, fast passed read of poverty, hardship, sorrow and a will to survive.
