I just lived this book- it was girl power at its best.
The main character Jenny Trelawney is no ordinary thief. She is forced to live in the Devon forest as she is so poor. She becomes a highway woman, who is so good at what she does. Until one day she gets caught and transported to Australia.
Being pregnant and alone she faces harsh challenges in a country so unlike her own. When famine hits the new colony, Jenny becomes the leader in a grand plot to escape. They all set sail in a small open boat on an unknown ocean. She will do anything for freedom. She knows they have to escape because otherwise those she most cares about will not survive.
The power of strong women never ceases to amaze me. It’s so good to read about these sorts of people.
