The story is set in the Bavarian forest. Cassie Engel lives in a very strange house on a mountain with her opera singer mother, her taxidermist father and dying grandmother. She has only one friend, Raphael the son of the local shoemaker. She is dissatisfied with her life as she's continually at her mother's beck and call. Her life changes when in a storm a cherub is blown into her bedroom. This is just the start of a series of strange and unexpected events. There are twists and turns in the story with both help and danger coming from unexpected places. The story is a quick and easy read but I didn't find it as good as I'd hoped after reading the first look pages. The book cover is interesting and attracts attention to the book. However it's hard to feel empathy with any of the characters. There are some surprises at the end of the book and possibly it's left open to a sequel.
