Not all sequels are bad, this is evidence of that.
I have read all of the books in this trilogy and admit none of the books disappoint. Though, if you have not read the first of the series some of the details would not make sense.
There is no single point in this book that has a low which you feel could have been taken out. Each of the chapters allows for the intricate mysteries both precursor to the events of the book as well as present to the events occurring in the book.
Whenever you think you might have someones real identity it seems to be a red herring which makes it work for the reader as much as for the author in concocting such as intricate web of deceit.
And to leave it on such a cliff hanger is cruel yet needed to keep the climax high in tension.
