One Woman's Battle for Freedom
Freedom Fighter is a heart wrenching true story about Joanna Palani's time on the front lines of Syria. It's very rare to hear a war story like this from the perspective of a woman. By the sounds of it Joanna was an excellent fighter but she also showed compassion for others on the battlefield.
However, this compassion does not appear in her everyday life away from the frontline and back in Denmark. Joanna's family are horrendous to her and don't even try to understand her. The abuse she suffered at the hands of her father and brothers is absolutely shocking to us in the western world but unfortunately it is a common occurrence in the middle-east. Hopefully this book will encourage more women to come forward with their stories.
