This isn’t the type of book I’d usually go for as I’m more of a romantic comedy type of person and this book touched on a few dark, sensitive subjects. But I absolutely loved it and it really opened my eyes to a whole new array of books that I would be interested in reading.

This books main character is Ruby, who after 10 years of being out of high school and away from her old friends, comes back to her home town for one of their funerals. After getting addicted to drugs and going through some mental health problems, her friend Danny commits suicide but not before leaving each of his friends a letter that contains a secret they all keep. He basically tells them they have to reveal them all to each other “or else”, except that “or else” never actually happens and only some of the secrets come out and some of them only the parts they want to admit.

I did get surprised at some of the secrets as most of them we learned during the second half of the book so by that time, we’d actually learned a lot about the characters and their pasts.

I loved the way it was written, how each chapter was in a different persons point of view and some of them were present day and some of them were in the past. That way instead of just finding out someone’s secret and what they wanted to share, we got to see how it actually played out during the time.

I loved it. I would definitely read it again. I would definitely recommended people read it even if you think you won’t like it and I will definitely be reading anything the author brings out next.
