Loved it
This is just so tense. This is also not for the squeamish. There are forensic details which I did find a little difficult. However this is a great story. The characters are so well drawn. The detective avoids the usual cliches. She is one of a kind. Her supporting police officers are far from glamorous. Frankly, this was very refreshing.
One of the best aspects of this novel is the descriptive details of highland Scotland. Beautiful and brooding, it provides a marvellous atmospheric backdrop to the story. For those who think the highlands are idyllic, the sections focusing on Inverness will dispel that.
Reading a novel concerning the death of a child is not easy, but this is a worthwhile read. One to really focus on.
