** spoiler alert ** The premise of the story is really good, but I did find that it was lacking in parts. It felt very drawn out in some areas, and could be shortened without affecting the overall quality of the book.

The idea is that a Cold War spy has come out of hiding to exact revenge. And while this part of the story does echo throughout the book, I felt that it was overshadowed by the awful crimes committed by Uncle Stellan.

To say that I enjoyed the book would not be a good way to describe a book that dealt with a very difficult subject matter with regards to the abuse of young girls who had just become teenagers and the subsequent parties that were held and the young girls were subjected to rape and unwelcome attention from much older men. I felt that the subject was dealt with in a sympathetic manner, but I was repulsed by it, even if it is a work of fiction.

Although this is a translation, I didn't feel that anything was missed in the translation. I felt it was well written and look forward to reading more works by Gustaf Skordeman
