As Everyman heroes go, Marc Dane is as typical as you get - if you live in the world of espionage and global terrorism. Having spent the first two novels in this excellent series attempting to clear his name, justifying hunches on dirty bombs and avoiding the threats posed by the shadowy Combine, Dane now seems to be accepting the support and resources of Solomon's Rubicon Group - however, both Dane and the reader are beginning to wonder whether his allies are all they seem.
Swallow's series of Dane books seem to take you on a globetrotting adventure across Europe, the USA and the middle East. They're not taxing on the brain, but nor are they simplistic and conventional - just great reads! Like the best modern spy-thrillers, Swallow has conducted a great deal of research and background to make his plot lines skirt around the realms of possibility - whilst also allowing them to dip their toes into 'slightly unbelievable'; if this works for Bond, it can certainly work for Dane.
