In Good Eggs we follow three people from the same family, each coming to terms with their own unique problems. Kevin is a stay at home dad, Aideen is his unpredictable teenage daughter and Millie is his eccentric mother. Each of their stories is unique and I enjoyed reading from each of their perspectives. There is no doubt that this is a fun story, but the perspectives of Millie in particular had me in stiches at times.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed reading it when it was in front of me but I didn't find myself reaching for it. The writing of this book let it down in my opinion. There were numerous sentences that I had to go back and re-read as they were quite lengthy and often went on a tangent. This interrupted the flow of some chapters for me and made it harder to get into the story when I picked up the book. I also found Kevin's character frustrating at times and wanted to shake him by the shoulders.
This being said, overall I did find the story to be entertaining, especially the last 200 pages. I think this was a good debut and I will be keeping an eye out for Rebecca Hardiman's next novel.
