Absolutely loved Millie from the get go. Reckless driving and petty theft mark the beginning of this adventure! One of her twin grandaughters Aideen brings a fresh spin to the story. A painfully self conscious, self loathing teen. As this story unfolds you get the sense that this is a coming of age story. You feel like you are part of the story where Aideen changes from an awkward teen to a young woman whose confidence is being awakened.
And Millie's son Kevin. Where do i start with him. I found my self having a frustratingly complex relationship with this character. One minute i was thinking what a great husband and father. Then a few page turns later i changed my mind and i wanted to throttle him and tell him - Noooo what are you doing you silly Sh#t!
Love how 3 generations of a family fitted perfectly. The other characters were brilliant. i just dont want to give too much away!
Having recently lost my Grandad, who suffered from dementia. I had hidden this book away in a drawer for weeks. I was unsure if i was ready to read this story or wether it would hit too close to home.I am very pleased i decided to read it. Thoroughly enjoyable!
