Not sure what I think about this one - on the first hand it's enjoyable enough. We follow the Gogarty family from the points of view of three members of the family. The matriarch, Millie, lives alone and is lonely - many of her peers, and her husband, have passed away and she's taken to petty theft from the local shop (attention seeking maybe). Her son Kevin is having a bit of a mid life crisis. He's lost his job and is looking after the four kids - he's lost his identity and his head has been turned by the young secretary at his daughter's new school. This daughter being Aideen - one of a twin, she'd been sent to boarding school because she's acting out. An interesting enough cast you would think.
On the other hand though I found the whole thing a bit disjointed. Each character gets their fair share of chapters but they all "take turns" so you spend a handful of pages with one before it suddenly veers elsewhere. I lost count of the number of times that I felt a chapter/character still had more "to say" but they were swept aside for the next character to take over.
In general I felt it was OK but also that we didn't really get under the skin of any of the family.
