"Hope to Die" is the second book in the Nathan Cody series by David Jackson, and the third one which I have read. As with the other two, I couldn't put it down.

I don't know how David Jackson does this consistently, but this is another brilliant, intelligently-written crime novel which, in parts, had me totally gripped and on the edge of my seat and, in others, chuckling out loud at the banter between the police officers. That's quite a remarkable talent, when some of the actions described are so awful they made me wince.

The Liverpool location of this series is a refreshing change, and I enjoyed revisiting places in the city that I have been to and discovering new ones. I can thoroughly recommend this series of books, and hope I don't have to wait too long for the fourth instalment.
