This was quite a fun and quirky read about an American Muslim boy struggling to come to terms with coming out.
Amir Azadi is eighteen and hails from a super traditional Muslim background and this causes problems when he admits to himself he is gay.
He gets close to Jackson but when Jake finds out he threatens to tell everyone.
Amir flees in terror and leaves for Rome on the day of his graduation.
While there he soaks up the local culture AND vibrant, buzzing gay scene.
He is having fun embracing and being himself and then his new found world and freedom comes crashing down when his little sister Zoraya finds out where he is leading to a huge family confrontation right in the US customs which leads to the whole family being interrogated!
A bit crazy and wacky at times but a bit of good fun and strong social themes and issues making this a pretty cool YA novel.
