How it all blew up is a beautifully written coming of age story written by Arvin Ahmadi. This book follows the story and struggles of eighteen year old Amir Azadi who is gay in a Iranian / American Muslim family. Amir travels to Rome to try and get away from blackmails he is receiving and as stated in the blurb he and his family end up in a interrogation room due to a fight they have on the flight back home.

This book was defiantly a book that I had been excited about for a long time. And rightfully so this book was spectacular. I loved how this book starts with the airport scene but then flashes back to how it all started. This book also gives other peoples point of view like his sister which i also enjoyed

However there is no such thing as a perfect book hence why I gave it four stars and not five. My only bit of criticism for this book is that it didn't really talk about Amir's relationship to his faith.
