How to belong made a fantastic first impression, even by the cover I knew this was the kind of book that I could get lost in for hours. What I liked about 'How we belong' automatically was that Sarah Franklin started off this book with the hussle and bussle of Jo's life. This is an important factor to Jo's charcater because without this crazy hussle and bussle prehaps she wouldnt be spending another christamas in the forest of dean! When Tessa gets intoduced we automatically love her (even though she just had a traumatic break up.)
