Jo is planning on giving up her career in law and job in London to relocate to the forest of Dean where she will help out and resurrect the failing family business of the butcher shop, Butlers butchers to keep it in the family when they retire.
Due to her move she ends up staying with a lady called Tessa in her little cottage but Tessa is an enigma locally and a very private person.
Both of these ladies have baggage and issues from the past that need addressing.
Neither woman is finding it easy to blend in and be accepted by the locals or the community at large.
As they get to know each other with the passage of time they start to open up and acknowledge their past mistakes and try now to make up for them.
I found this a very sweet and tender story but I don't think it will appeal widely as the story is quite slow moving and wouldn't satisfy audiences who want something faster paced.
Personally I think the pace suited the meandering story perfectly and the author did a good job of examining the intricacies of the characters relationships.
