Are you a person who set the 'eye for an eye' rule? or maybe you believe in justice? It is not a secret that the truth is not objective, and we all see the world from a different perspective. Perhaps you prefer to help fate and bring justice by yourself. How To Kill Your Best Friend is a book set up as a list of possible murder ideas. There are also added some second thoughts - how to kill and run away with it. The situation is potentially tricky, and here is the moment when the whole story just began.
They all came for the memorial for Mellisa - the dearest friend, wife... surrounded circumstances, seems to be inadequate to this sad moment. The island and the hotel belong more to the paradise scenario than the tragic place where Lissa died. Their small group was the great swimming team and lived very close no long ago - and Lissa took an important place between them. Her loss is very significant and made them suspicious about the circumstances of that tragedy. How easy is it to lost trust and burn a long-lasting friendship? Who is the killer, or who is the next victim?
The scenario will change - ominous weather, the island becomes claustrophobic, and they will end trapped here.
It is a great mystery thriller, building suspense from the very beginning. It is written from multiple points of view - alternatively, Georgie and Bronwyn, which complicates everything with their thoughts, emotions, and deep secrets. It is more like a journey within the human soul, exposing the weaknesses, pain, and darkness - the hidden parts of human nature. 'The universe takes a perverse joy in making sure our secrets don't stay secret for long.'
I enjoyed the reading, very dark and sinister book. The swimming scenes are perfectly created what can only reflect the author's greatest passion. The book's fascinating layout keeps me intrigued from the beginning - once to read the other ideas of the killing method and to know the story hidden behind it finally, and how ruthless the killer will be - as it said: 'It's all or nothing. It's always been all or nothing.'
I could feel the pleasure that Lexie Elliott wrote this novel and transferred the reader to a different world. Great writing, intriguing plot and characters, the idea of a secret and revenge will keep you curious and engaged till the end.
It is the first novel by Lexie Elliott for me, but I will look forward to her next books and plan to look at the last two books.
