Decent read, but could've been so much more powerful...

This is essentially a book about domestic violence. The blurb indicates that it is a psychological thriller - I don't think that it is. The 'thriller' bits are related to the mystery of who is watching Ria, and what will happen to her....but it all just fizzles out and ties up very quickly and neatly at the end. I think that whilst everything ties in together and there are no real superfluous characters or storyline, the underlying message about the lack of funding and support for those who are subjected to any sort of domestic abuse is more important than the actual story. This could've been a far more powerful and hard-hitting novel, but then maybe its message would not have reached as wide an audience...
