A good psychological thriller is one of my favs, as nothing beats staying up until god knows what time being freaked out whilst trying to work out the culprit.
This was advertised as a psychological thriller, yet I’d stick it more in the domestic thriller genre. Yes, it was creepy but you could easily predict what was going to happen, and a lot the drama that happens is mainly domestic. The level of domestic abuse in this was horrendous, and at times it all just felt so depressing - I applaud the author for her gritty representation of it as it was true to life. I found the ending to be very anticlimactic. There wasn’t really a big reveal and it all just fell flat for me.
Overall I thought the representation of domestic abuse was spot on, but the rest just fell flat.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and Readers First for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
