I enjoyed reading "how to play dead". The story covers the very serious issue of domestic abuse and is written from the perspective of two different characters. Ria, who runs a refuge and provides support for those in need and therapy for the perpetrators, and Tanya who writes a diary detailing her life with an abusive partner. I found Tanya's chapters much more engaging than Ria's because you really feel for her as a character. I found this book helped to explain why so much domestic abuse and violence goes unreported and it highlights important issues. At times I felt frustrated by Ria's response to her own stalker. Also, I got really into the story but felt the ending wrapped up a little quickly. Overall I enjoyed the book though.
