‘How to play dead’ is Jacqueline’s second novel.
It is based around Ria who manages a refuge for abused women providing emergency accommodation and also counselling. Unfortunately this brings their partners around to try to get their property back! Then someone starts sending Ria messages and gifts, saying they are watching her and her children. Just what she doesn’t need with her partner working away for a month.
The book is quite well written and mostly carries you along quite well except perhaps in the middle. It’s a good suspenseful thriller with a couple of unexpected twists in the plot.
The characters are believable and the story brings to life social issues that many of us are unfamiliar with.
It’s worth reading. The main detraction for me was that the typeface was smaller than normal which made it difficult to read effortlessly.

This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
