Memoirs or biographies to me are about dipping in and out of the book, finding out interesting information about someone’s life and searching frantically for a bit of celebrity gossip. While this book has this , it is so much more.

Grace describes with wit and warmth growing up in a working class family in Carlisle, through the eighties. How I laughed to see it peppered with my own memories - Saturday night telly, playing out, Findus crispy pancakes. In to the nineties where she pursues her dream of writing and fell in love with the new and different food and lifestyle of London.

Grace is well known as a writer, restaurant critic and a regular on the panel of Masterchef and this book follows the journey of how she got here.

It is all written with warmth and love starting with her family and her childhood and ending as her as an adult, again back with her family.

This is more than a memoir it is a lovely read.
