A dramatic opening chapter, and the author has expertly hooked his reader, ready to play, like a cat with a mouse. Whoever would have imagined that you could have a hitman narrator( John Smith) who can read minds.? Well, Christopher Farnsworth did, and it’s a fascinating concept.
The story is written in an interesting style, who wouldn’t like to know what other people are thinking? I loved the way that through reading their thoughts Smith gives us pen pictures of the characters he comes into contact with.
The narrative flows smoothly and credibly in a conversational way, the story moving along at a good pace, making it hard to put down. The subject matter is scarily contemporary and believable.
Even though this is the second in the series, I do not think that affected my enjoyment at all.
