Ok, so books with racial tensions are not necessarily my favourite but I picked it up because I had heard so many good things about Ava Dellaria.
All the characters were so fleshed out and so thoughtful. I felt for every single one of them and it made me so happy when they got what they wanted. There was a depth to even the adult characters which you don't really see in YA fiction, especially contemporary.
The plot was fast-paced and surprisingly the flashbacks didn't make it a choppy read. I don't usually like books that take place in the past but this was an exception. Everything transitioned smoothly and the prose is so good! The book kept me engrossed until the very last page. I would recommend it to everyone that wants a good contemporary YA read.
