This book is a psychological crime thriller and it is the second of Sarah Bailey's novels, both of which follow the main character Senior Detective Gemma Woodstock.
Gemma is a small-town police woman who has recently moved to Melbourne, escaping her turmoiled past. When a movie star is stabbed to death while the cameras are still rolling and with so many witnesses the case should be straight forward however things are much more complicated than that. As Gemma and her partner uncover secrets from the past the truth slowly begins to unravel but who is telling the truth and who is trying to cover up other peoples careless mistakes.
While all of this is going on Gemma is also trying to battle with demons from her past and trying to keep control of her ever unravelling private life.
I previously read and reviewed Sarah Bailey's first novel 'The Dark Lake' and loved it so much that I just had to read this one too. 'Into The Night' is an absolutely amazing read which held be gripped throughout. I'll most definitely be keeping a lookout for any future novels by Sarah Bailey!
