This is the second book in the series and to be honest I wish that I had read the first one. I think I would have understood Gemma the main character a little better and may have had more sympathy for her and the way she left her son who is only five. There is obviously a backstory that I felt I needed to know. However having said that I did enjoy the story and how it all unfolded to a satisfying conclusion. I didn’t like any of the characters especially the police detectives. They were all very abrupt or sarcastic to each other. I didn’t guess who it was who committed the crime it could have been anyone of them really. They all seemed to have issues of some kind. I will try to read the first one and would like to continue the series to see how Gemma gets on.
