I've read and enjoyed the author's previous two books - Grace After Henry and Three Little Truths - and the humour of the missing cat and the way the various characters were introduced in the opening chapters were reminiscent of them. I can imagine the one-upmanship between the parents about the school play will be amusing but I can't quite see this working alongside a storyline about a murder.
