Hearts can be broken
Georgina Shaw, known as Geo as she hated her full name and Angela Wong, were the best of schoolfriends. The teenagers did everything together and spent all their free time with one another after school, doing what all teenagers do, discussing boys, clothes, music, eating pizza etc.
They were the most popular girls in their year and both were school cheerleaders who were envied by their peers.
Their friendship weakened when Geo found her first boyfriend, Calvin James, who was several years older than her and a bit of a wild child who mocked her school friends and their carefree lifestyle and Geo and Angela’s friendship comes to a terrifying end.
The book opens on the day of Geo’s trial where she is convicted of involvement in her friend’s death many years earlier and receives a five year jail term and we also learn that Calvin became a serial killer,
After she is imprisoned Calvin escapes custody and goes on the run and towards the end of Geo’s sentence, it seems he’s killing again and coming for Geo.
This is a page turner and unputdownable.
I felt very sympathetic towards Geo and thought she had a bad deal in life and as the book progresses and flits from present day to her school days we learn more and more about her.
I didn’t find her particularly likeable towards the end of the book but it is one you can’t stop reading until all the loose ends are tied up.
I found the time hops a bit annoying as it made the book a bit disjointed but it didn't really spoil my reading enjoyment and it was well written to hold the readers attention throughout the book right to the very last page.
