It's not often that I am hooked by a storyline within the first paragraph, but that's exactly what happened with Kill Me Twice! Through Morgan's determination and her inquisitiveness, alongside her emotional connection to the actions of Karl Savage, I found myself desperate for the police to listen to Morgan despite their temperamental relationship.
Getting an insight into Karl's upbringing and the reasons behind his horrific actions as an adult ensured that by the final chapter, and Karl's subsequent demise, I was in tears. Although sympathy is certainly the wrong word, I came to understand him and to feel less animosity towards his behaviour. This is odd considering the horrific nature of his acts, but this is credit to Simon Booker's fantastic writing style.
