Little hints of the controlling behaviour of Zoe's husband were placed from the very beginning of the book. This becomes more and more obvious, and it really makes the reader pity and empathise with Zoe. The flashback which lays out the foundation for the rest of the story was very useful to me as a reader, as it helped me to begin to piece together how she even got into the situation she finds herself in, which I suspect will be uncovered throughout the book. I would like to read more so I can continue working out what happened and see how the situation progresses.
