The book cover is indicative to the story which starts dramatically and encouraged me to keep on reading. I suspect it is a good example of how military blunders are probably covered up in real life while the public are blissfully unaware of what's going on.
A good plot with international involvement affecting a family and their friends. Focused around a father who used to be a submariner during the cold war, who got tied up in events which in later years would test his loyalty to his country.
After the cold war, the arrival of a historian who starts asking awkward questions is murdered, causing problems within the submariner's family and threatens to split the family apart. All in all a very good read.
