This book was amazing. Not knowing much about the cold war era, I found the premise of this book interesting and the chance to learn more really caught my attention.
Switching between present day and that fateful day brings a new dimension to the story as you see it not only as it happens but also the effect such an event has on those left behind and even generations on.
The ethical and moral dilemmas that the characters felt all those years ago really resonated through the story.
Overall as a thriller it really hit the mark. What an amazing story! Having never read any books by Michael Ridpath I would definitely seek out more of his books, from the intriguing cover to the well developed storyline it was a brilliant read.
