When I won this book I really didn’t know what to expect, I didn’t like the cover and the blurb wasn’t all that promising. However, having read it I know feel the idea was good but the execution wasn’t. From
The prologue built up a picture of a book that could have been very exciting. I was expecting a story based on people’s experiences as submariners and their trials and troubles along the way. The book Swapped from present day to times during the Cold War. It was quite clever, however I found the language used quite one dimensional and not believable.
The details seemed to be missing, somehow stopping you from really feeling like you were there. The plot was quite thin and I just felt like the book skims along the surface of what was a very tricky time. This book just didn’t do it for me.
