What an amazing cover that really draws the eye, it really embodies the suspense and drama of the plot inside. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from 'Launch Code'. I was keen to read it as the blurb suggested a murder mystery theme which is one of my favourites, but with books set during the Cold War they can often be quite technical and I was worried there would be a lot of submarine description that I would struggle with. Thankfully I was completely wrong, the combination of murder mystery and war-time setting was perfect as it led to all sorts of ethical and moral dilemmas about whether or not murder can be justified under certain conditions, when is it justified and when is it not? This theme made the book extremely interesting and the murder mystery plot provided suspense to keep me desperate to read on. The pacing and decisions to reveal sections of the history throughout the novel was excellent.

I would have preferred to have connected more thoroughly with the main characters and to have been more invested in what happened to them, this would have upped the level of suspense even more. All in all though I couldn't put this book down, which for a book I'd been unsure how I'd get on with was a lovely surprise. I would definitely recommend 'Launch Code' to lovers of suspense.
