A bit of a disappointment

After first been drawn in by the cover I thought the blurb of Let's Pretend sounded interested and my sort of read.

Unfortunately I found the book a bit of a disappointment. Former child star Lily Thane is now in her thirties and struggling to find work. She's under pressure from her Mum or 'momager' as she refers to her to be perfect and become a star and is struggling with an eating disorder and dabbling in drugs. Then she runs into an old friend, Adam Harker, who is looking for someone glamorous arm candy to attend public events with and act as a beard. When Adam turns up dead in the swimming pool, only Lily cares enough to find out what happened. I was disappointed to find that this main plot line of Adam's death which hooked me in the blurb didn't happen until half way through. I found this book long winded and not particularly interesting at times. I found it hard to push on and get to the end.
