Let's Pretend is just glamourous enough to be removed from reality, but not far enough to make the characters unrelatable and stupid. The exploration of the 'dark underbelly' of the world of celebrity is a little sleezy without being uncomfortable.

A significant amount of time is spend developing the characters relationship and I appreciated that. It becomes an immersive environment that sets you up well for when she begins investigating Adam's death. Lily perhaps isn't the most likeable narrator, and can be overly self depreciating at times, but she's enjoyable to be with and the storytelling flows well.

Let's Pretend is an easy read, ideal for a holiday or sunny day, and is captivating enough that I breezed through the book within a couple of days. I would be delighted to read more Laura Vaughan novels for adults in the future.
